B.E.D. – A space imbued with a certain intimacy through the inherent privacy of the object and the softness of its materiality. It invites knee-to-knee moments, waving from one side to the other, and gently sweeping hair from each other’s faces. A plateau-like typology that becomes our hotpot – a field of experimentation in mutual discovery, observation, and finding paths to one another, like children and rabbits in the grass.

As our Contribution for the >>Dagdas Arhitektūras, mākslas un mūzikas festivāls<< in Dagda we build a participatory kitchen & Bed – to serve as a central space for coming together, caring for one another, and sharing meals during the Festival days.
We had the Intention to forster direct interaction between artists and the local community of Dagda. We believe that cooking and eating together – much like music and art – serve as a universal language that brings people together and creates an accessible entry point for conversation and getting to know each other.
The center of our attention was an old steel structure we found on site. Reinforcing it with steel frames & other Materials we could gather in Dagda, we were able to build the biggest Bunkbed ever. Guests were invited to rest on the matress made out of textile & Hay or to help cooking together and prepare meals for another. Thanks to the community of Dagda that supported us, we were able to use mainly materials & Products that we found in
Dagda.
Thanks >>Dagdas Arhitektūras, mākslas un mūzikas festivāls<< for making this possible and to all the cute people spporting us in the process.
„We decided to utilize the space we would occupy anyway (…) with a commercial for peace.”

The goal is to create a versatile space that is open to continuous development and external influences – and to serve as a central space for coming together, caring for one another, and sharing meals during the SAABRI Festival. The approach aims to enable connecting encounters without prejudice and to create an accessible entry point for conversation and getting to know each other. We believe that cooking and eating together – much like music and art – serve as a universal language that brings people together. By combining artistic practice with everyday actions like meal preparation, art becomes a natural part of daily life. Additionally, it was our intention to foster direct interaction between artists and the local community. The communal cooking in a sculpturally designed kitchen (B.E.D.) and seating/lying area comes alive through the active participation and decision-making of the community. We are all the kitchen – and we want to break down the boundaries between those who cook and those who are cooked for. B.E.D. – A space is to be created that simultaneously serves as a place of solidarity, a playground, and a space to meet basic needs. This requires planning in advance – but above all, spontaneity, openness, and a sensitive awareness of the situation on-site.
